Blood drive at SMI, a student during collection

Blood drive on campus: one morning, a hundred bags

SMI's community club held a blood drive with the Thiès transfusion centre. Students, staff and neighbours filed through the multipurpose hall.

Run by the institute's community club, the drive belongs to the solidarity strand of student life: beyond the donation itself, the aim was to introduce a whole cohort to a gesture few of them had made before.

Medical teams set up collection stations and a rest area from eight in the morning. The queue only cleared in the early afternoon.
